about

BlitZ Live Album
Recorded between 2019 to 2021 11 live tracks and the bonus track “Keep Moving On “

For touring bands (and rock bands especially), live albums serve three main purposes. The first is to offer up raw, dynamic versions of their studio material, tearing through their back catalogue with a vigour you can ONLY get from the live atmosphere. The second is to give those that were there a chance to relive the experience, taking them back to when they last saw the band. The third, of course, is to show everybody else what they're missing so they can get out there and support the band on their next tour!

'Take No Prisoners' ticks all of these boxes, kicking off with vocalist and bassist Stuart Corden declaring “We are Blitz, so you don't have to be!” before tearing straight into Damage Is Done. You're thrown straight into the pit from the very start, and as Stuart roars the chorus - “Can you hear it? Can you feel it?” you can't help but find yourself thinking “HELL YES!”. Indeed, during I Believe, they allow for some audience chanting, and if you close your eyes you could believe that you were actually there, at the front of the stage.

As with the best live albums, the band sound absolutely fierce throughout. Kevin Simpson rips out solo after solo, as Mat Davis thumps away on the drums, anchoring every song with skill and precision. Stuart too is in fine voice, and you can hear the passion and grit as he roars through some savage hard rock.

Blitz are heavier on the stage, but they give songs room to breath when needed. Even when things slow down with Love Is a War, the momentum isn't lost for a second. It sounds MASSIVE live, and might even be better than it's original studio form!

The track-listing is a pleasing one, mixing older Blitz classics with newer material, and they fit together beautifully. Party Time sits snugly next to 99 Ways, as does Dance On Fire alongside I Believe.

Rounding things off is the fantastic new studio track Keep Moving On, and a great interview with the band who give an insight into what it's like to be Blitz.

All in all, Take No Prisoners is an excellent release, and an essential one for any Blitz fan. This is proof of their talent, and a serious warning to any pretenders to the hard rock throne. Blitz aren't just here to stay, they're here to SLAY! Take No Prisoners is definitely an appropriate title!
